MMM'20: Not Ready To Wear

~ No joke ~

This dress has been sitting in time-out since last year.
You can go there for lots of pix and all the details.

~ and it's still unfinished ~

The sleeves are just pinned in.
The lining needs to be attached to the back zip, etc.
The sleeves and hem need to be, well, hemmed.
And pockets added.
Then I'll see what needs to happen next.

~ Meanwhile...  ~

I thought I'd trot it out for MMM'20
and see if I get a spark of inspiration, or not.
Maybe someone will offer some insight or a fresh take on it?

I know it's hard to believe,
but this dress is from Vogue DKNY 1461.
Okay, I did make it about 5 feet longer,
but other than that, it's pretty much the same.
Oh, I didn't put in the hair canvas hem trim either,
because I didn't want that ballerina skirt look.

~ a close-up ~

I don't particularly care for my handmade necklace here.
I think it works better on this dress.
And I don't think the brown ribbon sash adds much either.
I have an obi belt that gives it a medieval vibe that might be better...

~ worn with metallic Trippens from ebay ~

~ and another mask mug shot ~

See you tomorrow,

  1. I cannot speak for all, but this does solve for fabric I have in the stash that I just can't figure out what it wants to be. The plaid is so big and uneven and lovely. But this would work.
Still cold enough, it would work.

I want to thank you for being my fashion inspiration, my distant muse. No, I don't wear what you wear, but I see what you've done and my brain gets very busy. My results are different, but they would not have gotten going without yours.

    Thank you my dear!

    1. awww, how nice to hear, SJ Kurtz. Yes, we can inspire each other even when we're not Stylin' Sisters. That's what is so cool about the sewing community don't ya think?
Now if I could only get it going on this linen with a swooshy lined dress...

  2. Don't hate me, but I love this dress. I hope you finish it up "warts and all!" Maybe bright pops of pink or purple shoes/belt/necklace/scarf, a vest over top??? Keep us posted!

    1. Rest assured, KimMalk, I don't hate you for loving my dress! I do plan on at least finishing it up and then see what I can do to rock it. Maybe some bright pink or purple accessories?

  3. I like the shape of the dress but I am not a fan of brown (sorry!). It needs some colour (bright blue? Orange? Purple?)

    1. No need for sorry, Shelley. For some reason I just luv brown for clothes. I have a lot of it. But it doesn't mean splashed of color can't go with it. I also think this dress needs to be shorten quite a bit. We'll see.
